Today’s challenge
is to describe my own personal style. Well to describe my style…. Hmm that
could be a tough one, I would describe my style as comfortable. Ha Ha!! I am
not picky when it comes to clothes basically grab and go. I wear a lot of
t-shirts and jeans. I was born at the end of the 70’s which had a wonderful
style. I remember going through my mom’s closet and seeing all the colors and
fringe. I feel like it was unique and amazing but not my style.

I grew up during the 80’s and I loved the
bright neon colors and I am almost certain that the over use of hairspray could
be the single contributing factor to the hole in the ozone layer!! I could
never sport the teased bangs myself but I did have the feathered hair look. I
did admire that the 80’s was a decade devoted to a unisex look pretty much
anyone could wear the fashion and look cool. Male or female it could be adapted
accordingly. (I am sure we all remember the hair bands of the 80’s, some of my
favorite bands come from the era, However I had quite the time explain to my
kids that they were men and not women!) I am ashamed to say though that I did
go through a period in about 86 where I had Day-Glo orange spandex pants, as
well as Neon green. Not my finest hour but I tried. FYI, it is not a good look
for a 200 lb. 6th grader to wear neon spandex in the 80’s kids can
be mean and I set myself up for some torment. (but we will save that for
another post)
Now in the 90’s I
did get behind the grudge look, but of course I was a teenager in the 90’s and
it could be the rebellious stage I went through. I loved the flannel shirts and
denim. But really even now who doesn’t love a great fitting pair of Jeans. I
also still own a couple denim Jackets that I do wear on a regular basis. I also LOVED the gothic look. I loved wearing black
because as a big girl black was a flattering color. I also loved the corset
look, (I currently own 3 corsets that I wear on a regular basis) Currently my
style would be more western I like a great boot and again as I said before I
LOVE a great fitting pair of Jeans. I have used many pieces from a lot of
styles I have even added some vintage pieces from the 50s era as well. SOO … what is your opinion? How would you
describe your style? Or if you’re like me and have a mishmash of pieces in your
closet what was your favorite style from which era?
Thanks for stopping by today and tune in tomorrow for
Challenge #3 when we discuss my top 3 headlines of July
