Hey all welcome back, Today I am wanting to talk about something a little serious, in my area we have been having some earthquake activity. Now we don’t have many noticeable earthquakes here, I am from Utah and we have little ones you know the barely noticeable ones but lately they have been getting stronger. The last one that was recorded that was large for here was 4.1 and it was southern Utah on April 13th. But we are having bigger and bigger ones.
So, with that being said I thought it would be a good idea to talk about what to do in an emergency situation. Now being prepared will always be first and foremost the most important thing. A little prep will make things so much better for the future. I posted a poll on twitter asking in a disaster what would be the first thing you would want to do.
1. Make a shelter
2. Gather/finding a clean water source
3. Make a fire
4. Get a food source
Now for me the first two things I would probably do is find a water source and make a shelter. Especially in the desert area that I live in, it can get pretty warm in the summer months and very cold in the winter months so finding some protection from that is a huge priority. And of course, a person can only survive so long without water, and my guess is that in a major disaster he normal water sources may be compromised.
Now I have done some camping but I am sure that surviving a disaster will be slightly different. So, this series and yes this will be more than one post just because there is so much to cover that it will not fit in just one post unless you all want to be reading for the next two weeks. I want everyone to know that preparation will be the main focus so a lot of the tips I will be sharing will cover things that can be made ahead of time and kept in a pack for the event. However whenever possible I will include tips for when you when you were not prepared at all.
